Student Life V/S Professional Life
I wanted to write on this topic since long back but could not write coz I did not have that much fundaes to write about Professional life (I had some ideas abt professional life based on the feedbacks from my seniors but wanted to have some personal experience, anyways now when I am interning at CHIMC Indore so now I have some exposure to Professional life, therefore it’s the right time to write on this topic.. so here I go !!!) .
Lemme first start with glimpse of college life… College life is a really rocking in many sense like u start learning on ur own, understand the need of frnds in life, work independently, have some of the beautiful moments of ur life tht u wud like to cherish throughout ur life and the list goes on…
It starts with ragging session, then fundaes frm senior…One starts wid attending classes regularly but later bunking classes becomes habit…You have all those wonderful FRIDAY NITES and Parties which u r definitely gonna miss after college… You have times when u fight wid frnds and sometimes with outsiders and the frnds wid whom u fought come to help u…. times whn u have fight wid autowalas, watching movies (in multiplex as well as on computer )… There are times whn u have crush on someone (same sex as well as opposite sex !!! )…times whn u fall in love and 24*7 u only think/ talk abt him/her…u share ur feeling wid ur frnds abt ur happening/ non-happening love life…also sometimes u feel frustrated (coz of problems in personal life, academic life, coz of frnds, and sometime even coz of the reasons tht u r not aware of….)…. You have all those wonderful matches where u are the part of the team inside as well as outside the ground … u cheer the team …Mugging just before the exams wid frnds and somehow manage to get decent grades… and the time just passes by frm sec. to min. to hrs. to weeks to months to semesters to yrs and thn u r done wid all ur courses and graduate frm the college wid some degree and jobs with awesome packages (not always !)…
And thn u enter the professional life where life is totally different frm ur college life.. Now u need to be more formal and more non-casual(in dress as well as in all general things)… u cant bunk office like u used to bunk classes… u cant treat ur manager/ mentor the same way u used to behave wid ur professors.. u cant crash in the office like u used to … u have to be there in the time, u cant ignore projects with impossible deadlines, cant delay the submission of the reports, cant make somebody to wait just coz u did not finish ur work… u cant be involved in all stupid (Actually I dont want to use this word) activities tht u used to (elections, events etc etc.) coz u don’t have much extra time, and sometimes significantly lower pay compared with relevant peer group in the market. The list goes on ….
… Well frm all the description tht I gave here abt professional like reflects tht professional life sucks but thts also not true coz if I stop here thn probably I wont be looking at the other side of the coin… Career benefits include protection, sponsorship (open doors to follow ur dreams), exposure (create opportunities for visibility), challenge (provide “stretch” assignments) and coaching (teach and provide task-related feedback). Psychosocial benefits typically include role modeling (demonstrating behaviors, attitudes and values appropriate in an organization’s context), counseling (to explore personal and professional dilemmas) and friendship (caring and sharing in ways to go beyond work requirements)….Also one gets exposure to the industrial world…. U get experience and a chance to show ur talent or the medium to implement the things tht u learned in the college (if u learned anything !!!!)…..also u get the idea abt the things tht are rapidly changing in the world… be MBA in Marketing, HR Finance or any field.. u keep urself updated…. U gain lots of knowledge…. and apart frm all these u get money for the work tht u do !!! also u get the medium to follow/ chase ur dreams…. U can make ur future here and make ur life comfortable…. Its also true tht in professional life ur personal life is constrained and u become like a machine working frm 9-5( or even more thn tht !!!)….
By looking at the pros and cons of both student and professional life I can for sure say (Based on public opinion or may be I am biased (coz I am in college like IIM, Ahmedabad (IIM A) tht Student Life Rocks !!!
